MADURAI: A special effort to improve the skill of the workforce under a ‘Skill development initiative scheme (SDIS) – modular employable skills (MES)’ has been undertaken by the training wing of the Department of Employment and Training.
In an official release, T. Rajasekar, Regional Joint Director of Training, said that the MES programme provided training in sectors that played a vital role in the development of Indian industry.
The SDIS is aimed at imparting training to groups comprising school dropouts, industrial workers and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate holders in sectors such as automobile, electrical, electronics, production and manufacturing, information and communication technology, printing, refrigeration and air conditioning.
It was conducted under the direct supervision of a trade committee comprising representatives of industries, training officials, and trade experts.
