30 women SHG members will be trained
Hosur: The Skill development initiative programme on Creative painting and Desktop publishing for women Self-help groups commenced here on Thursday. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned grant assistance of Rs 35,300 to Community Development Society, Hosur for conducting the programme. About 30 women self-help group members would be trained by experts on various aspects of painting etc.
The SDI programme will generate self-employment opportunities for the trainees at their doorsteps. The objective of skill development initiative is to promote livelihood and sustainable employment opportunities both through self and wage employment.
According to Assistant General Manager NABARD, V. Thirumalai about 600 SHG members affiliated to Community Development Society, Hosur were trained on various aspects of book keeping, time management, dealing with government officials etc.
Under Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme about 150 SHG members were trained on Beautician, Art and crafts, Fashion garments and fashion jewellery.
On completion of the training programme a majority of the participants have set up their own units.
Two REDP computer services programmes covering 40 trainees have been held and loans extended to 38 out of the forty trainees.
Further, NABARD had assisted the NGO in forming 50 SHGs during 2006-07 and Rs 100 lakhs have been extended as bank loan by Pallavan Grama Bank, Hosur till date.
The cooperation with the Banks, NABARD and CDS, Hosur will be further cemented he added.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to become social entrepreneurs so that the society at large is benefited from the knowledge gained.
