Tuticorin: A large number of people in the State would benefit from the novel scheme — Chief Minister insurance scheme for life saving treatments — that facilitated surgical treatment free of cost, said Collector G. Prakash.

He said that under the scheme 376 private hospitals had been chosen for providing life saving treatment. In Tuticorin district, six hospitals — Sundaram Arulraj Hospital, Tuticorin; Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Tuticorin; Sankar Hospital, Authoor; B.G. Hospital, Tiruchendur; Arthy Hospital, Kovilpatti; Kamala Hospital, Kovilpatti; and Subiksha Hospital, Kovilpatti — had been selected.

Through a toll-free number, 18004252670, public could avail assistance regarding the scheme. Referral slips for taking treatment could be had from all Primary Health Centres in the district, taluks and non taluk hospitals and Tuticorin Medical College Hospital. The beneficiaries could avail treatment only after the referral was made these hospitals, he added.

The name of the beneficiary must be listed in the family card and they should have the certificate from the Village Administrative Officer indicating the annual income or the identity cards with photo of welfare boards issued with attestation of the VAO. The beneficiary could avail treatment costing not more than Rs. 72,000.

Treatment can abe availed for 51 types of diseases.
