Works will begin once funds sanctioned: Minister

Six bridges would be built at an estimated cost of Rs.1.14 crore in the district under the aegis of the State Rural Development Department.

The Labour Minister, K.T.Pachaimal, along with the Collector, S. Nagarajan, on Saturday inspected the sites where the proposed bridges would be constructed.

A total of six bridges would be built at Tiruppathisaram, Erachakulam, Thellanthi, Kadukkarai and Thadikkaramkonam village panchayats under the Thovalai panchayat union.

After the inspection, the Minister said that the estimation report for these bridges had already been submitted to the government and once the fund got sanctioned, the works would begin immediately.

Earlier, the Minister participated in the minorities welfare day programme at the Collectorate and disbursed Rs.89,000 as educational scholarships to minorities and most backward class students.

The Minister distributed freebies to a total of 1,007 beneficiaries at Ghandipuram panchayat.
