Collector C. Kamaraj and Thanjavur Tamil University Vice-Chancellor M. Rajendran among other officials visited the 14.5 acre proposed site for establishing the “Tholkappiyar Ulaga Tamil Sangam” near the government law college here on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Rajendran said that after the success of the World Classical Tamil conference held at Coimbatore recently, it had been planned to give an impetus to Tamil. The Tholkappiyar Ulaga Tamil Sangam would act as a catalyst and play a key role in interacting with Tamils all over the globe.

For instance, the venue for the next classical conference would be decided by the Sangam.
