The administration of Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple has decided to give silver plating to ‘Adhikara Nandhi Vahanam,' a mount on which the deity of Sri Periyanayagar would be taken out in procession on first night of the 10-day Karthigai Deepam Festival.
V. Dhanusu, Chairman, Board of Trustees, said, “We have decided to repair the six-foot wooden mount and give it a cover of 18-gauge silver plate. It will need 130 kg of silver and we have 100 kg at the temple. This has come as offerings from devotees.
“We welcome contributions and intend to purchase the remaining using temple funds. Officials deputed by the HR&CE Department visited the temple on Thursday. We expect the work to start in a week or two.”
