Significant improvement in Tirupur

Overall pass percentage in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination in the district witnessed a significant improvement from 85.96 per cent registered in 2012 and stood at 93.07 per cent this year, an increase of 7.11 per cent.

Of the 29,023 students (14,333 boys and 14,684 girls) who wrote the examination this year, as many as 27,011 students (12,937 boys and 14,074 girls) emerged successful.

The performances of government schools and Corporation/Municipal schools were stupendous this year showing marked improvement over the pass percentages achieved last year.

The pass percentage in government schools this year stood at 88.63 per cent vis-à-vis 78.13 per cent attained in 2012. Likewise, the pass percentage of Corporation/municipal schools stood at 88.39 per cent against 79.15 per cent registered last year.

As many as 147 out of the total 296 schools registered cent per cent pass results in the examination. The schools that obtained centum results include 15 government schools, two municipal schools, five government-aided schools, 16 self- financing schools and 109 matriculation schools.


A total of six students shared the top honours in the district with the scores of 496 marks out of 500.

The second place in the district was shared by eight students with marks of 495.
