TIRUCHI: The Central Workshop, Southern Railway, Ponmalai, organised a programme on improving communication skills for middle-level supervisors on Friday.

Addressing them, the Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer, Production, N. A. Ismail, said body language forms an important role in communication and that to be an effective communicator one must shed the mental block. Quick response and remembrance skills would be helpful in motivating workers to accomplish their tasks, he said, adding that clarity in drafting and using sketches would enhance the level of their understanding.

Presenting case studies, the Programme Executive of All India Radio, Tiruchi, Murali, said listening is as much important as speaking for a good communication. Biased communication, he said, would lead to mistrust, anger or even accidents, he cautioned.

In the feedback session that followed, the participants said such programmes would help them a lot.
