AIADMK threatens to move court if it is not rectified
Tuticorin: The members of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has alleged that the underground sewerage scheme taken up by Tuticorin municipal administration was being implemented in an “unscientific” and “corrupt” manner.
In a memorandum submitted to the Managing Director of TWAD Board , Swaran Singh, the party’s town secretary, R. Amritha Ganesan, and the secretary of AIADMK advocates wing, U.S. Sekar, pointed out that pipelines carrying drinking water were broken in many parts of the town owing to improper digging causing extreme hardships to the residents.
The works were being carried out in many places without the supervision of government officials.
According to Mr. Sekar, stringent action should be taken against the officials concerned for using bricks, cement, iron rods, sand and pipes of poor quality vis-À-vis specifications outlined in the project document.
The AIADMK men pointed out in the note that underground pipes laid as part of project were covered without conducting trials.
Mr. Sekar said that under this circumstance, Managing Director of TWAD should take steps to cancel the contract and appoint an expert committee to probe the matter immediately.
He said that the party would be forced to approach the High Court for “suitable remedies” if TWAD Board did not take any necessary step against the improper implementation of the scheme.
