KULITHALAI: The Lalapet police have arrested seven persons from Tiruchi who allegedly tried to cart away 4.5 tonnes of steel rods meant for use in the construction of the road over bridge at Lalapet by the National Highways Authority of India.

The steel rods were kept near the Chintalavadi Railway Station. It is said that some persons hired a lorry to carry away the rods. But the lorry driver sensed something wrong and dumped them but not before informing the villagers that the group was up to some mischief.
