The Department of French, Pondicherry University, organised a national seminar on French and Francophone studies in the Indian context to mark the 25th year of the creation of the department, on Wednesday and Thursday.

Chandra Krishnamurthy, Vice-Chancellor, inaugurated it. Participants from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, University of Madras and other universities presented papers on teaching of French, problems of translation, French literature and others.

S. Pannirselvame, Dean of Humanities, delivered the welcome address.

S. Anadavadivelou proposed a vote of thanks.
