KARUR: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Tiruchi zone, is organising a seminar on `Impact of WTO on Textile Industry' here on March 2.

Its chairman, B.V. Ramanan, in a release said that Karur being an important home textile export cluster generating over $ 300 million a year in foreign exchange and employing around 2 lakh people, the impact of the World Trade Organisation remained paramount to the growth of the industry here. The CII's seminar would help Karur exporters understand the impact of WTO regime, he felt, adding that the Joint Textiles Commissioner, Nagesh M. Mugadur, would be the chief guest.

The Regional Head, European Union Investment P. James Daniel Paul, Deputy Director and in-charge, Regional Textile Commissioner's Office, Coimbatore, D. Bandopadhyay, and others from the industry would participate in the seminar, the release added.
