NAGAPATTINAM: Security has been intensified along the 188-km long coastline in Nagapattinam district. This is despite mechanised boats and trawlers keeping off the sea as part of the 45-day mandatory ban on fishing till May 30.

Intelligence sources told The Hindu that movement of boats was being monitored strictly. The district administration has instructed fishermen venturing into the sea to carry identity cards.
