Massive preparations are on in the town for the proposed visit of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa to campaign for Dindigul Parliament constituency candidate Udayakumar on Tuesday. The police have brought the venue of the meeting under a security blanket. Armed police personnel have been guarding the entrance to the dais, which has been designed like Delhi Fort, on the playground of MVM Girls Higher Secondary School on Tiruchi-Madurai Highway near the Collectorate. A path connecting the helipad and the dais has been covered with arches decorated with banana trees, green palm leaves and vegetables garlands. Three-tier security has been provided to it.

A helipad has been laid just 300 metres away from the meeting venue on the school campus. Asphalt road has been laid around the helipad. It has also been brought under police security net.

The police sources said that 2,000 police personnel would be deployed to ensure adequate security to the Chief Minister. Additional force would be deployed from Theni, Ramanathapuram and Madurai districts.

Armed police personnel were already deployed around the area. Vehicle checks had been intensified on Tiruchi-Madurai Highway and round-the-clock surveillance ordered, the source added. After campaigning in Dindigul, the Chief Minister was expected to go to Theni to campaign for Theni Parliament constituency candidate Parthiban.
