The city police has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure a peaceful Vinayaka Chaturthi celebration. Nearly 1,900 Ganesha installations have been erected in the city and idols will be immersed in five spots on September 14, 15 and 18. A total of 50 sensitive locations have been identified in the city. 16,000 policemen will be deployed in the city.  “Elaborate vehicle check and lodge checks will be conducted especially near vital Ganesha installations. Police protection will also be given,” said a senior police officer. Patrolling will also be conducted throughout the whole day till the festivities are completed. "Security will be heavier during immersion,” said the officer. The police held meetings with various groups. “We have asked the representatives to follow rules while carrying the idols”, said the official.
