Supporters of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) voiced displeasure over the allotment of the Cuddalore seat to the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) under the National Democratic Alliance by hoisting black flags.

Of the 10 candidates already announced by the PMK for the Lok Sabha elections, R. Govindasamy, former MLA of Vriddhachalam Assembly constituency, was to be fielded in Cuddalore.

Soon after the party high command proposed his name, Mr. Govindasamy had started his campaign.

However, his name was left out during seat-sharing talks and the seat allotted to the DMDK.

PMK supporters feel that Cuddalore, a stronghold, had slipped out of the party’s hold. Therefore, they hoisted black flags at the Vriddhachalam road junction and Nachiyarpettai.

In contrast, DMDK supporters celebrated the allotment of the Kallakurichi Lok Sabha seat to the party. They gathered at the Kallakurichi road junction and burst fire-crackers.
