In a bid to encourage students in rural areas to take more interest in science and technology, three panchayat union schools and Vivekananda Youth Welfare Association jointly organised a science exhibition, near here, on Wednesday.

Students displayed about 100 working models based on various science and technology concepts at the exhibition, which was held at the Nathagoundampalayam panchayat union middle school.

Automatic street light illumination control device, traffic management, solar power generation, wind mills, weed control systems, and rural sanitation were some of the models that become the cynosure of all eyes.

Apart from the students from various government schools, the exhibition attracted more than 300 residents living in Nathagoundampalayam, Rasampalayam, Pachapali, and a few other nearby villages.

The objective of the event was to help students understand some of the basic concepts in science.
