Private schools in the State, including nursery and primary schools, will not operate their vehicles on November 19, school managements decided at a meeting here on Wednesday.

According to R. Visalakshi, president, Tamil Nadu Private Schools’ Association, around 11,000 schools across the State would keep their vehicles off roads to protest against certain provisions of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles (Regulation and Control of School Buses) Special Rules, 2012.

The protest is also to urge the State government to bring in the necessary amendments.

The decision was taken at the annual general body meeting, where representatives of school managements from around 20 districts participated.

She said the other two private schools’ associations were party to the decision.
