Field trip

National Service Scheme volunteers of Government Higher Secondary School, Kuruvikulam, undertook a field trip to various agricultural farms in Shencottah, Adavinainar Dam and Achankoil. The trip was led by R. Subbaraju, NSS Programme Officer. The objective of the visit was to create a better awareness of the environment and agricultural practices among the students.

School Day celebration

Rt. Rev. Jeebachandran, Bishop of Tuticorin-Nazareth Diocese, addressed the students of Margoschis Higher Secondary School, Nazareth, at the School Day celebration. The annual report was presented by the Headmaster, T. Joseph Jebaraj. The Clerical Secretary and chairman of the governing board, S.G. Lourdhuraj Jeyasingh, presided. R. Kishore Kumar, Senior Principal, St. John's International Residential School, distributed prizes to students for academic excellence.

Yogasana competitions

Students of Ravilla K.R. Appaswamy Naidu Vidhyashram Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kovilpatti, won 21 first prizes and emerged the champion of champions at a State-level yogasana competition conducted at Sermathai Vasan College for Women, Madurai. The competition was conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Awareness rally taken out

The National Cadet Corps (Army) of Tuticorin organised an Anti-tobacco awareness rally recently at St. Francis Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Tuticorin. Col. R. B. Paleti, Commanding Officer, who presided over the programme, highlighted the evils caused by tobacco. Major T. Vijayakumar, D. Selvan Silva, K. Sreenivasan, J. Alban led the rally, which passed through beach road, W.G.C road and culminated at the District Stadium. The cadets, who carried placards, raised awareness of the evil impacts of tobacco consumption among the public. NCC Army Cadets of St. Francis Xavier's HSS, V.V.D. HSS, Karapettai HSS, Kamaraj College and V. O. Chidambaram College took part. M. B. Sudalaiyandi, MLA, Srivaikuntam flagged off the rally. A pledge to avoid tobacco was also administered.
