Star swimmers of Pushpalata Vidya Mandir, Palayamkottai, Richard Singh, Nikilesh, Joel Singh, Aadithyavas bagged the second place in 4 x 50 metres medley and 4 x 50 metres freestyle relay.

Out of 142 participating schools, swimmers Richard Singh of class VI won the coveted 2nd place in 50 metres breaststroke and 3rd place in 200 metres individual medley.

The A.V.K International Residential School, Sankarankovil, celebrated ‘Literary Week' from November 21 to 25. Managing Director of the school Malini Ramnath, CBSE Principal M. Jeganathan, Matriculation stream Principal C. Daisy Rani inaugurated the celebrations.

Kindergarten section beautifully exhibited their talents under the concept ‘Fairy Tales.' Some of them were Cindrella, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Midas Touch etc.

The senior nursery students beautifully enacted the story ‘The Hare and the Tortoise'.

Students of both the streams exhibited their talents on a range of topics and beautifully dressed like the characters of Shakespeare and delivered their famous dialogues.

A few of those characters were Antony and Cleopatra, King Lear, Macbeth etc.

In the Tamil Department, students performed the roles of Appar, Sundarar, Manikavasagar, Thiruvalluvar, Kambar, Bharathiyar,Bharathidasan etc.

In the Hindi Department, students recited poems, stories about the scholars of Hindi Nehru, Meera Bai, Kabir Das etc.

The Children's Day was celebrated in the AVK International Residential School with great pomp and show. Children presented a variety of programmes like fancy dress, dance and skit etc.

Teachers also participated in the celebration to entertain the children. They conducted a hilarious puppet show for the students.

This celebration gave an opportunity to show the hidden talents of the children.

Children's Day was celebrated in the Cambridge Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Agasthiarpatti, with full gaiety, separately by both primary and secondary sections.

The function commenced with the lighting of traditional lamp by chief guest Agnes Joseph, Lakshmi Priya of third standard and Melphy of 11th standard anchored the programme for both primary and secondary sections.

Sajitha Sargam of third standard and staff Sai Laxmi welcomed the guests .

Following the keynote address by the chief guest, prizes were distributed to the children who excelled in various competitions conducted in the previous week. Being Children's Day, teachers performed cultural events for children also children amused teachers with their cultural programmes.

The students R.S. Subramanian and D. Deepak of 10th and 9th standard of the A.U.P.E.T. Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Palayamkottai, bagged the first prize in the district-level science quiz competition conducted on the occasion of ‘The World Science Day' at the District Science Centre, Tirunelveli.

A total of 65 schools participated.

A. Yogha Priya of 5th standard of the school won the second prize with a cash award of Rs.8,000 in the state-level painting competition for school students of 4th to 6th standard, which was conducted by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited in Chennai as part of the National Campaign on Energy Conservation 2011.

Around 2,50,000 students participated in the competition. Yogha Priya will be competing at the national-level competition to be held in New Delhi on December 12.
