District-level science exhibition

Nagapattinam district-level inter higher secondary schools science exhibition was held in Gurugnanasambandar Matric Higher Secondary School, Mayiladuthurai, on November 18, in which students of over 120 higher secondary schools displayed science models. S.J.Karthikeyan and M.Srinidhi of Vivekananda Matric Higher Secondary School, Sirkazhi, won third prize for their presentation. Both have been selected to participate in the state-level exhibition. Bala Arulselvan, MLA of Mayiladuthurai, distributed certificates to students. K.V.Radhakrishnan, Chairman of Vivekananda Group of Education Institutions and Joshua Prabakarasingh, principal, congratulated students and felicitated the staff Gopi, Rajakumari and Jothilakshmi, who guided them.

National Integration Day

The Scouts and Guides unit of the P.A.Vidya Bhavan Higher Secondary School, Thalapatti in Karur district observed the National Integration Day recently. The week-end camp of the Scouts and Guides of the School was also inaugurated on the occasion. K.Selvaraj, PA to the Chief Education Officer administered national integration oath to students. D.Prakasam, headmaster, motivated the students to involve themselves in social service activities. S.Muthusamy, Karur district secretary of Scouts and Guides, N.Shanthi and K.Purushothaman, training counsellors, spoke.

Students excel in painting contest

A large number of students from different schools participated in the Kumbakonam educational district-level painting competition held at St.Joseph's Girls HSS , Kumbakonam, recently. M.Selvasekaran, assistant headmaster, The Crescent Higher Secondary School, Avaniapuram, inaugurated the competitions. Speaking on the occasion Dr.Selvasekaran said that continuous effort and regular practice will pave way for the students to achieve success in any field.

Sister Arokiamary, headmistress, St. Joseph's Girls HSS,

offered felicitations. G.Thiyagarajan (class IX), TAHSS, Thiruvidaimarudur, finished the winner. A.John Major, XI, of Government HSS, Ayyampettai, was second. S.Solani, VIII, St.Joseph's Girls HSS, Kumbakonam and R.Thivakar, XI, of Crescent HSS, Avaniapuram, finished joint third.

Swimming competition

Sara Aashica of class VI of Mai School, Pudukottai, won the 100 m event in the district-level swimming competition held recently. She also won the second place in 50 m event. S.A.Anbumuthu, correspondent, and Sathya Priya, headmistress, felicitated the winner.

Festival of harmony

SVS International School, Pudukottai, celebrated SVS traditional festival with usual gaiety. The students dressed in different

religious costumes celebrated their respective festivals. The festival was on the theme ‘one nation, and religious harmony.'

Seminar on national integration

National Integration Day was observed by the NSS unit of the V.S.Boys Higher Secondary School, Tiruvarur. R.Killivalavan, headmaster of the school, presided over the seminar organised in connection with the Day. M.Vaduganathan, correspondent, G.Venkatesh, president of the Tiruvarur JCI, G.Thiyagarajan, former president of the JCI, R.Elankumanan, NSS programme officer of the school, spoke.

The NSS volunteers of V.S.Boys HSS, Veludaiyar HSS, and GRM Girls HSS , participated in the seminar.
