Children's Day

Students of SSA Residential School, Valparai, celebrated Children's Day by taking part in oration, dance, singing, gymnastic, sports and yoga programmes. Mayil Ganeshan, G. Ragupathi, chief in-charge of the school, Senthil Kumar, SSA teacher trainer, and various ward counsellors were present.

M. Arunachalam, Correspondent, SBOA Matriculation Higher Secondary School, presided over the Children's Day celebration. R. Gunasekar, Inspector of Matriculation Schools, Coimbatore, was the chief guest. A film on Jawaharlal Nehru, prepared Anitha Shri, Standrad XII, was screened. Balamurugan, Diabetologist, spoke on food habits and importance of physical exercise. D.S. Rishabadas, correspondent, SBIOA Educational Trust, Selvaraj, deputy regional secretary, Geetha Gopinath, principal and M. Christopher Dhanabal, vice principal of the school were present.

The students and teachers of Kalaimagal Matriculation Higher Secondary School took part in various activities like oration, poetry recitation and fancy dress show on Children's Day. S. Amirtham, principal, greeted the students.

Kids' carnival

Students of National Model Secondary School, Peelamedu, celebrated kids' carnival. Fancy dress programme on the theme Nature's Gift and a skit were presented.

The programmes presented by Standards I and II emphasised the five landscapes mentioned in Sangham literature. Dr. P.N. Palanisamy, correspondent, released school magazines.

Forty-five students of Yuvabharathi Public School under the leadership of M. Yoganathan, winner of CNN-IBN's Real Heroes Award, planted 100 saplings along the Kanuvai- Thudiyalur area. Students of Coimbatore Public School planted 150 saplings in and around the school premises to mark Children's Day.

English Association

D. Narayanaswamy inaugurated the English Literary Association of Palaniappa Matriculation School.

Bakrid

T.V. Sekharan Memorial Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated Bakrid and Children's Day. Villupattu, skit and debate were organised. M. Christopher Stenberg, Councillor, Madukkari ward No.1, Savithri Gopal, Sameera Anwar, V. Sheik Sulaiman, PTA president and director of the school, and T. S. Harish Kumar, managing trustee, were present.

Guffaw competitions

Students of Standard 1 to V of Vidya Vikasini Matriculation Higher Secondary School took part in guffaw (burst of laughter in Italian) competitions. Fancy dress, music quiz, oratorical competitions, and folk dance were conducted as part of the three-day programme. S.S. Jayalakshmi, correspondent, and Geetha Sadhasivam, principal, were present.

Winners

Students of Noyyal Public School won first three prizes at the state-level chess competition. Thanushree, pre-kg, bagged first prize. Moses Jenith, Standard V, won third prize in the state-level yoga competition held at Tirupur. Shenega, Standard V, bagged third prize at the district-level yoga competition. Harunya, Standard III, finished sixth in the state-level chess competition.

Celebration

Lisieux Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated Patroness Day, Manager's Day and Children's Day recently. Rev Fr. Dr. Antony Puthanangady, Provincial, CMI, Rev Fr. Rapheal Manager, Dr. Anbazhagan, P.T.A. representative, Rev. Fr. Philips, Principal and Rev. Fr. Godly, Bursar were present on the occasion. Students performed various cultural programmes.

Seminar

The Ideal Mount Litera Zee School and Kidzees conducted a seminar for parents on prevention of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse of children on the World day for the prevention of child abuse. Seena Thevar, territory head, Kidzees, south zone was the facilitator of the program.

FM Station

The National Model Radio 29.8 of the National Model Matriculation School was inaugurated by Krishna, Radio Jockey at RadioMirchi.

Tree plantation

Disha School organised a tree plantation programme under the aegis of Siruthuli, Residence Awareness Association of Coimbatore, Chamber of Commerce, Pollachi and Rotary Club of Pollachi.

Dennis A. Chen, principal, Vanitha Mohan, managing trustee, Siruthuli, addressed the students.
