Visiting schools and imparting literacy to children and teaching them to read newspapers, visiting an old age home and giving prizes to the inmates, displaying golden sayings in public places, interacting with doctors on nutritious food, making paper covers using old papers and writing letters to persons who attracted them were the highlights of the Joy of Giving week celebrations organised by the Suryodaya Aided Elementary School in Gudiyatham recently.

The children presented a bouquet to K.C. Veeramani, health minister, who visited Gudiyatham. Amuda Sivaprakasam, municipal chairperson, Gudiyatham and Ramu, president of the Kondasamudram village panchayat inaugurated the celebrations. P. Jennifer Philip, Headmistress welcomed the gathering. L.M. Bhoopathi, advocate and M. Michael Das, Assistant Elementary Education Officer spoke. Sundaramoorthy was the coordinator of the celebrations.
