The Combined Water Supply Scheme for Vellore Corporation, 11 municipalities, five town pachayats and 944 rural habitations in Vellore district with the Cauvery as source would be the answer for the shortage of drinking water prevailing in the district.

According to Collector P. Sankar, 68 MLD of water should be provided for a Corporation, while the Vellore Corporation was being provided with 26 MLD at present.

“There is shortfall in water supply for the Corporation, municipalities and town panchayats.
