Seven will come up in the city
The total number of ATMs of the bank in the district to go up to 40
Tirupur: The State Bank of India will install 11 more ATMs and open another branch in Tirupur district before the end of the current financial year, according to SBI Deputy General Manager (credit) P. J. Thomas.
He told The Hindu here that of the 11 ATMs planned, seven would come up in the city and the remaining in peripheral towns like Palladam and Koduvai. “Once these commissioned, the total number of ATMs of the bank in the district will go up to 40,” he said.
The new branch proposed would come up at Velampalayam taking the total number of SBI branches in the district to 28.
Mr. Thomas said that of the Rs. 70 crore worth of educational loans disbursed by all banks in the district during the current financial year, SBI's contribution was Rs. 20 crore constituting about 30 percent of the total disbursal. “We have covered 972 students during the process,” he added.
He said that the SBI had achieved the target of extending ‘financial services' to one lakh unbanked villages in the country set for the current financial year, within the first ten months itself.
Collector C. Samayamoorthy inaugurated the new premises for Thennampalayam branch and two ATMs there recently.
