Officers and staff of State Bank of India (SBI) staged a demonstration here in front of the administrative unit of the SBI on Thursday in support of their demands. Around 300 bank staff from various branches in the city took part in the agitation .
While opposing the new pension scheme, they demanded pension at 50 per cent of last drawn pay without ceiling.
Their other demands included commutation on par with the industry, family pension on par with the government and revision of pension of earlier retirees.
State Bank Officers Association regional secretary Jayakumar and State Banks Staff Union deputy general secretary Ashokan explained the ill effects of the new pension scheme and the need to improve the existing pension scheme. The demonstration was led by Ashok, deputy regional secretary, SBI Officers Association.
It was organised as per the call given by the All India State Bank Officers Federation and All India State Bank of India Staff Federation.
