Gold coins with the image of the Big Temple, brought out by the State Bank of India to commemorate the temple's millennium celebrations have been well received by the people, said B.S.R.Prasad, General Manager, State Bank of India (SBI) here on Saturday.
Speaking at a function to hand over the keys of a hi-tech ambulance presented by the bank to Indian Red Cross, he said out of 1000 coins, 957 have been sold out and only 43 remain with the bank. He handed over the keys of the Ambulance to M.S.Shanmugham, Collector and ex-officio president of the Red Cross.
Two persons-Thangavelu and Kaliyaperumal-who had come forward to donate their bodies for medical studies, were honoured by the Collector . M.Pandiyaraj and S.Venkateswaran, Assistant General Managers, SBI, Tiruchi, V.Rajaraman, Chief Manager, SBI Main branch, Thanjavur, N.Shaik Serajudeen, vice-president and chairman, Indian Red Cross, Vasantha Govindarajan, treasurer and secretary, Indian Red Cross, participated.
