Battery cars for elders, differently abled at Coimbatore Junction
A Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter for booking railway tickets will start functioning very shortly from the post office at Pappanaickenpudur near Vadavalli.
Talking to The Hindu, Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) Member U.K. Sivagnanam said that the PRS counter at PN Pudur was recommended by Coimbatore MP P.R. Natarajan.
Officials at the Southern Railway – Salem Division at the DRUCC meeting held at Salem on Wednesday announced that the recommendation by the MP has been sanctioned. The meeting was presided over by Divisional Railway Manager Sujatha Jayaraj and was attended by V. Thavamani Pandi, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, D. Lakshmanan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and members U.K. Sivagananam, Jameel Ahmed, Rajan and Balasubramanian.
Henceforth, people living in and around Pappanaickenpudur, Vadavalli, Marudhamalai, R.S. Puram, Seeranaickenpalayam could visit the PN Pudur post office for booking their railway tickets.
After the completion of the renovation of retiring rooms and construction of new ones, the Division has promised to ensure introduction of online booking of retiring rooms at Coimbatore Junction.
In a release issued by Salem Division, Ms. Sujatha Jeyaraj has announced that efforts are underway for providing medical assistance booths at stations, provision of battery operated cars for elders and differently abled people to reach the platforms from the car park with ease.
