The Sankarankoil Assembly constituency is all set for the by-election on Sunday.

According to D. Raajendiran, Special Chief Electoral Officer, all polling parties, electronic voting machines and other materials had reached the polling stations on Saturday. Polling personnel had also reached the stations.

He told The Hindu that uninterrupted power supply would be maintained in all 242 polling stations as webcasting facility had been installed for monitoring the poll proceedings by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer right from the beginning of polling till it concludes. “We have done this with the concurrence of the Election Commission.” For this purpose, 10 monitors had been installed at the CEO's office control room.

Monitoring, through SMS, would be done throughout the day to assess the status of polling in each station. Electors should bring the Elector's Photo Identity Card for exercising their franchise. Voter's slips issued by the authorities can also be used. No other document will be accepted.
