It has been planned to construct 17 men’s sanitary complex in the district in the current year. While Kadavur will have three, the rest of the blocks will get two public conveniences. Each complex will cost Rs. 4 lakh. Civil work and related aspects have been completed in 11 complexes and work on the other six is progressing well. The work is expected to be completed by October 15, said Collector S. Jayandhi. Each complex will have six lavatories, one special lavatory that has hand rails designed for physically challenged and the elderly, another for children’s use, and a huge cubicle in the middle of the complex for storing water for bathing purpose. User groups have been formed and trained for maintenance.
