Pollachi: The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden has ordered extension of the closure of the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve for a further period of 26 days till April 15. Owing to the onset of summer and dry spell inside the sanctuary areas, ATR Field Director H. Basuvaraju had recommended closure from March 1 to 20. In the wake of the continuing dry spell, anticipating incidents of forest fire and disturbance to wildlife, Mr. Basuvaraju had sought the extension of the closure. — Staff Reporter
