SALEM: Customer satisfaction should be the motto of all personnel in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), its Principal General Manager, Coimbatore, A.S. Egaya said.
Leader in the market
In his special address at the function for the presentation of Bharat Sanchar Sarathy and Sanchar Seva Padak awards, organised by the BSNL, Salem, on Tuesday, he said a better customer service would keep the organisation a leader in the market.
Concentrated efforts and quick response to the complaints were needed to improve the customer base and the market share of the BSNL, he added.
Mr. Egaya said the Salem Telecom District had recorded remarkable achievements during the last year. It was able to provide telephone and mobile connections on demand even in rural areas.
Customer service centres
It had nearly doubled the number of mobile phone towers thus ensuring a wide coverage and introduced broadband service in many telephone exchanges in the district. Presiding over the function, General Manager, BSNL, Salem, T. Sethumadavan said the BSNL had opened customer service centres in Junction, Gugai and Ammapet in the city. New centres would be opened in Hasthampatti and New Integrated Bus stand shortly.
About 12 centres were functioning in other parts of the district such as Mettur, Namakkal - Salem Road, Senthamangalam, Namagiripet and Komarapalayam. More centres would be opened in various parts shortly.
The Salem telecom district has 188 mobile phone towers and 75 new towers will be erected this year. It has 83,883 post-paid and about 1.54 lakh prepaid mobile connections.
The district has 20 broadband centres with 1,242 connections. This year, 35 more centres will be opened to provide 1,544 connections.
These centres would provide information about all the services offered by the BSNL and bills could be paid in these centres, Mr. Sethumadavan said.
