Sale of application forms for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) began in 167 government schools in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts on Monday.

The applications were hitherto sold in the offices of the Chief Education Officers and District Education Officers in the districts.

The applications would be on sale in all the 167 government schools (83 schools in Krishnagiri, including an aided school in Elathagiri, and 84 schools in Dharmapuri).

In Dharmapuri, 20,500 applications for Paper I and 28,400 applications for Paper II have been received by the education department. Of these, as many as 5,421 Paper I and 8,983 Paper II applications were sold out on the first day. Applications would be on sale in the schools till July 1.

In Krishnagiri, as many as 34,500 applications were received and 5,200 Paper I applications and 7,100 Paper II applications were sold during the first two days.

As many as 392 filled in applications were received from the candidates, an official said.

Candidates are requested to submit the applications at the offices of the respective DEOs’ in person. Filled in applications sent through registered post or ordinary post will not be accepted.

Clearing Paper I will make candidates eligible to handle classes for Standards I to V, while candidates clearing Paper II are eligible to handle Standards VI to VIII.

The examinations for Paper I and Paper II will be held on August 17 and 18 respectively. A candidate has to secure a minimum of 60 per cent for a pass.
