Tuticorin: The body of Felix Mascrinas (37), a sailor from Tuticorin, who was killed under mysterious circumstances in a Maladivian vessel on November 15, was buried after an autopsy was performed here on Wednesday.
Sources said the deceased had boarded the Merchant Navy vessel, M.V. Fortuna, in which he was employed, on its journey from The Maladives to Tuticorin on November 15. The family of Felix Mascrinas got a message at his house on November 16 that he had died the previous day. Though the vessel had started its voyage to Tuticorin, it returned to The Maladives soon after the incident happened and the body was sent to Thiruvanathapuram on November 21, by flight.
According to sources, a post-mortem was not performed before the body was sent to India. Moreover, the body had a stab wound, which raised suspicion among the family of the deceased, who alleged that Mascrinas was murdered. The south police are investigating.
