A regional transport office will be set up at Tindivanam.

At present, Tindivanam has a unit office, whose upgradation has been approved by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. In addition to the existing six posts, the upgraded office will have 14 more posts. The move will entail a recurring cost of about Rs. 53 lakh annually and non-recurring cost of around Rs.9.57 lakh.

The establishment of four more unit offices at Sriperumpudur (Kancheepuram district), Kallakurichi (Villupuram), Vedasandur (Dindigul) and Palacode (Dharmapuri) has been sanctioned by the Chief Minister. Twenty-eight new posts would be created and this would involve a total expenditure of Rs. 97.61 lakh annually. — Special Correspondent
