PERAMBALUR: The cooperative banks in the district have disbursed farm loans to the tune of about Rs.28 crore so far during the current financial year, said the Forest Minister, N. Selvaraj.

Speaking at the valediction of the `Cooperative Week' celebrations here recently, he said the banks had disbursed Rs. 15 crore towards short-term crop loans, Rs. 12.26 crore under the Farmers' Credit Card scheme and Rs. 71 lakh as medium term loan. The banks had also disbursed Rs. 37.44 crores towards jewel loans. This apart, 225 SHGs had been sanctioned Rs.87 lakh during the current year.

The Collector, Anil Meshram, presided. The Minister also disbursed loans to two men SHGs to the tune of Rs.2.65 lakh and a loan of Rs.12,000 each to three women for the purchase of milch animal. The MLAs, M. Rajkumar and S. Sivasankar, the Special Officer, Tiruchi DCCB, R. Jeyaram, spoke.
