More than Rs.2 crore worth assistance was sanctioned at the “makkalai nokki maavatta nirvagam” special camp organised by the district administration at Ilayaperumal Nallur in Jayankondam block on Wednesday.
According to an official release, Collector P. Senthilkumar took the heads of all the departments along with him to the village and received petitions from the public.
As many as 856 petitions (including 163 related to Social Welfare department, 270 of the Backward and Minorities Welfare department, 159 of the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Welfare and Housing Development Corporation, 38 of the Rural Development department, 37 of the Revenue department and 21 of the District Supply wing) were received. Of them 694 were accepted after scrutiny.
Based on these representations various assistance worth Rs 2.39 crore were sanctioned.
Besides, new buses would be operated within three months for villages like Pagalmedu, Ilayaperumal Nallur colony, Pichanur, Nallankudikadu, Muthuserva Madam colony, Mukkolam and Vadakku Kachiperumal Natham. Two persons have been referred to a Chennai hospital in connection with cardiological problems under the Chief Minister’s expanded medical insurance scheme.
In addition, a 1.4 km road between Ilayaperumal Nallur and Pallividai villages would be laid at an estimate of Rs 2.5 crore.
Also the panchayat union elementary school building at Ilayaperumal Nallur would be renovated at a cost of Rs.2 lakh.
For this, the Collector instructed officials to send a proposal to the government.
Those who took part in the camp include A. Karuppasamy, District Revenue Officer, and SS. Kumar, project Officer, District Rural Development Agency.
