Official holds review meeting
Dharmapuri: The Horticulture Commissioner, Jagmohan Singh Raju, discussed with officials the progress of works taken up by the Department of Horticulture in Dharmapuri district at a review meeting here on Thursday.
District Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal presided over the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Raju said that the Government had allotted a sum of Rs. 4.83 crore under the National Horticulture Mission (NHM) for Dharmapuri district for the current year. It had allotted Rs. 2.58 crore the previous year.
Mr. Raju said the department would provide financial assistance with subsidy to farmers for different projects, including cultivation and improving infrastructural facilities.
He said that subsidy would be provided to farmers for creation of small and model nurseries, construction of green houses and shade nets, renovation of old mango orchards, cut flower cultivation, organic farming, crop protection and bee keeping. Assistance would also be provided to farmers to take up drip and sprinkler irrigation, he added.
Farmers interested in availing assistance under various schemes can give their applications to the Department of Horticulture in Dharmapuri.
Joint Director Agriculture K.K. Duraisamy and Deputy Director Horticulture Sivaprakasam were present at the meeting.
