Counters arranged to get applications: Collector
ERODE: Welfare aid worth Rs. 3 crore will be given to as many as 2,000 beneficiaries of Thalawady hill area here on Thursday, said Collector T. Udhaychandran on Wednesday.
The assistance would be given in Thalawady, Thingalure and Hassanure tribal areas by the Collector, District Revenue Officer and Sub-Collector, Gobichettipalayam, respectively.
Mr. Udhaychandran told press persons here that the district administration had been receiving complaints about shortage in LPG cylinder supply.
A meeting of the officials of Petroleum Companies and the LPG dealers would be held to discuss the issue. He said as some dealers were handling more than 5,000 connections, it was difficult for the administration to check them all.
Appointing more dealers and distributing the existing connections would be discussed.
The Collector said that an individual student was eligible to get Rs. 4 lakh as education loan without any surety and collateral security. For studies abroad, more than Rs. 7.5 lakh would be given, but with surety and collateral security.
Preliminary arrangements had been made in the Collectorate for the loan mela on September 7 and 8. Proper counters had been arranged to collect applications from the banks.
A separate enclosure had been provided for the students and their parents to fill up the applications.
In the District Development Council meeting hall, the bankers would peruse the applications and sanction the provisional orders.
Within 15 days the respective banks would grant the amount in favour of the educational institution.
The Collector said that during the last financial year 1,200 education loans were granted to college students and this year till date, 1,200 and odd such loans had been distributed.
