Tirupur: The Railways realised a fine of Rs. 31,580 from 112 persons during a day-long crackdown here on ‘irregular' and ‘ticketless' travellers on Wednesday.

The surprise checks were carried out at 18 trains arriving Tirupur Railway Station.

The Divisional Commercial Manager, D. Lakshmanan, told reporters here that the persons fined included those who had travelled without tickets, persons found without platform ticketsand those who purchased tickets for passenger/express trains and subsequently travelled in superfast trains.
