District Collector J. Kumaragurubaran gave away a cheque of Rs. 2 lakh to the family of 11-year-old Nitishkumar, who died of electrocution, from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund during the grievance meet held at the Collectorate here on Monday.

The boy died of electrocution when he accidentally touched the window of a building on which a tube light was put up, ahead of the government function to distribute free mixers, grinders and fans to beneficiaries of Perumakoundampalayam Village in Rasipuram Taluk on Saturday.

Mr. Kumaragurubaran also distributed iron boxes worth Rs. 3,000 each to 10 beneficiaries, financial and other benefits to 24 more beneficiaries through various schemes.

Earlier, a total of 400 petitions were received from petitioners during the grievances meet in which District Revenue Officer R. Seethalakshmi, and State revenue and district administrative officials were present at the function.
