COIMBATORE: Rotary Coimbatore Manchester recently conducted its annual fund raising event, “Yuvaa ’08.”

Though essentially a fund raiser, the programme served as a platform for the student community to exhibit their talents in music, dance and mimicry, said Assistant Governor of Rotary Coimbatore Manchester, Lakshmanaswamy. The proceeds of the show would be used for the community service programmes carried out by the organisation including projects on improving health and living conditions of under-privileged children.

The organisation also has programmes for the education of such children.

The auditions for the programme were held in September in which more than 100 students from 60 colleges took part. Twenty-one students from 12 colleges were selected for the finals. A winner and a runner-up in each category were awarded prizes worth Rs.40,000. Dr. G. R. D College of Science bagged the award for enthusiastic participation.

As a special performance, Big Bazaar launched its collection of designer garments.
