Soon after Chief Minister Jayalalithaa launched the sale Rs. 20-a-kg rice in Chennai, District Collectors T.P. Rajesh of Krishnagiri and R. Lilly of Dharmapuri inaugurated the sale of rice in their respective districts on Wednesday.

Mr. Rajesh inaugurated the scheme at the Adhiyamann Cooperative Stores at Market Road in the town. The government has allocated 441 tonnes of rice to the district for sale through cooperative institutions.

The rice would be supplied by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation. District Revenue Officer C. Prakasam, and A. Krishnamoorthy, Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies, among others participated.

Ms. Lilly launched the sale at the Adhiyamaan Cooperative Stores near the bus stand in Dharmapuri.

Inaugurating the scheme, Ms. Lilly said the rice would be available in 5, 10 and 25 kg packs at the cooperative store inside the Subramaniya Siva Cooperative Sugar Mill at Harur.

S. Ramadoss, Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies, and other officials participated, a release said.
