Members of Tamil Nadu Retired Government Employees Association staged a dharna in front of the taluk office on the Jawahar Bazaar Road here on Wednesday to highlight their six-point charter of demands.
The demands included increasing medical reimbursement to Rs. 3 lakh from Rs. 1 lakh at present, expeditious action on solving the issues confronting those officials suspended a day ahead of their retirement on disciplinary grounds, and fixing a minimum of Rs. 3,050 as pension for the retired noon meal/anganwadi/village watchmen cadres. Association district president S. Sadayandi led the dharna in which vice-president S. Veerayya, Kulithalai branch president M. Jayamoorthy, treasurer M. Balasubramanian and State Executive member S. Gurumoorthy spoke.
The dharna in front of the old bus stand was led by C. Ramamoorthy, district secretary of Tamil Nadu Retired Government Employees Association. N. Rathinasamy, vice president of the association, and S. Malaiyappan, executive member, spoke.
