Take steps to introduce train from Mayiladuturai to Chennai

TIRUCHI: The representatives of various consumer organisations from five revenue districts covered by the Tiruchi division of the Southern Railway, who participated in a recent meeting, urged the Railways to restore the Tiruchi-Mangalore day express train cancelled abruptly.

They drew the attention of the Railways to the non-availability of train service in the Mayiladuthurai-Chennai section due to the ongoing broad gauge conversion works and pleaded for steps to introduce a train from Mayiladuthurai to Chennai.

The Divisional Railway Manager, R. C. Jat, who presided over the meeting, assured to forward their suggestions to the railway headquarters with his recommendation. The DRM commended the role played by the consumer organisations in highlighting the various problems confronting the travelling public and said this helped the railway administration to solve the same.

The meeting commenced with a PowerPoint presentation by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, H. M. Dinesh, explaining the various proposed and ongoing projects for improving passenger services.

The Divisional Commercial Manager, A. P. Muthuramalingam, also spoke.

The representatives of consumer organisations from the districts of Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Perambalur and Cuddalore districts participated in the meeting.
