As many as 95 repatriate students received educational aid worth Rs.3.65 lakh from Repco Bank at a meeting of the Repatriates’ Welfare Association at Aranthangi in Pudukottai district.
The welfare association connected with Repco Bank also distributed medical aid worth Rs.25, 000 to three repatriate students. The Repco Bank, a government of India enterprise, under the control of Ministry of Home Affairs, has allotted Rs.2.25 crore for repatriate welfare, said P.Mahalingam, director, Repco Bank. From the next academic year, students scoring high marks in SSLC exams would be awarded, he added.
Distributing 189 ‘A share’ certificates, Mr.Mahalingam said the bank has distributed 20 per cent dividend to ‘A’ share holders this year. He announced that jewel loan, business loan, and women SHG loan were offered by the bank. Chidambaram, managing director (in-charge), Pudukottai District Cooperative Spinning Mill, and Karuppaiah, special officer, participated in the meeting attended by 300 repatriates.
