The Ammankoil Patti Streets at Sivakasi are age-old and have historical backgrounds.
Encroachments from the A.K.P. Bridge are increased day by day. Unauthorised Vinayagar peetam has come up in front of the S.H.N. Yanai Mahal.
Lorry owners have occupied the entire area up to the Mariamman Kovil Arch. Residents face hardships in this locality, because of these encroachments.
Almost all roads are encroached upon.
I request the officials concerned to inspect the areas and remove the encroachments from the A.K.P. Bridge to A.K.P. Municipal High School Easy. It is essential to ensure free flow of traffic.
There is a level crossing east of Ramanathapuram railway station on the east coast main road, leading to various towns like Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari.
This manned level crossing should be replaced with a bridge or subway in view of large number of vehicles that pass on the road everyday.
Similarly, the level crossing on national highways No. 49 at Kamuthakudi should also be replaced with an over bridge or subway, because of heavy traffic on this Rameswaram-Madurai road.
Will the authorities concerned look into this?
Broad gauge conversion work is going on in full swing at Paramakudi.
On Muthukulathur road, a manned level crossing is maintained by the railway authorities.
Will they construct an over bridge on the Muthukulathur road to avoid traffic congestion?
This is with reference to the letter "community certificates" in The Hindu on August 1.
Let the existing procedure be continued.
Leave the heads to concentrate on maintaining discipline and academic excellences.
Fake certificates are produced with a different caste or date of birth. Some heads have been passed strictures by courts for a wrong committed by the clerks and some teachers entrusted with completing admission registers.
Attempts are nowadays made by the parents to include their children under the most privileged communities by unfair means. Revenue officials are more competent to issue community certificates.
Ban on entry
In some temples, women are banned entry.
All over the United States of America, there are temples dedicated to all Hindu gods and goddesses.
Quite often one finds in the same temple complex shrines of all deities.
These temples are frequented by people of all faiths, by men and women, without any discrimination.
While this is so, why should there be a ban on women seeking entry into temples in India?
Globalisation cannot be made to apply only to trade, industry and education.
It should also be applied equally to temple worship.
