The district administration has recommended relief for 247 persons, including 72 who lost their kith and kin in accidents, in the district this year. According to a release, Collector Darez Ahmed conducted a special camp on Saturday to provide relief to those affected by the traffic accidents in the current year.

The exercise was meant to initiate early action to help the victims of traffic accidents and their families regarding which petitions were received.

As many as 122 village administrative officers, 10 revenue inspectors and personnel from Perambalur, Arumbavur, Mangalamedu, Kunnam, Padalur, V. Kalathur, Kai. Kalathur and Maruvathur police stations took part.

For the 247 petitions received at the camp, acknowledgement slips were issued and details of the petition computerised.

The legal heirs of the 72 persons who lost their lives in traffic accidents and 175 persons who suffered injuries have been recommended relief after the scrutiny of the documents. The relief amount would be disbursed to them soon, the Collector said.

Those who participated in the camp include M.A. Subramanian, District Revenue Officer, and R. Revathi, Revenue Divisional Officer.
