C. Manoharan, Collector, distributed prizes to students who won various competitions organised by the Department of Tamil Development, on Monday.

He also gave away a cheque for Rs.1 lakh sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund, to Selvarani, widow of Rengasamy, who was killed in a road accident at Ilayavayal recently and Rs.25,000 to the bereaved family members of an employee who was killed in a spinning mill in Coimbatore.

Earlier, the Collector received 262 petitions from members of the public at the weekly grievances day meeting.

Most petitions pertained to the plea for sanctioning old age pension, new family cards, orders for effecting name transfer in patta records.
