THANJAVUR: As a special offer for its customers in Thanjavur, Reliance Communications recently unveiled a unique offer on ‘Hello - the Grama Veetu Phone' (fixed wireless phone).

“Adding extra zing on their wireless landline, Hello phone is now available at just Rs.399,” said Ajay Awasthi, Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu, Reliance Communications Ltd.

Customers subscribing to ‘Hello - The Grama Veetu Phone' have two recharge options.

One with a first recharge of Rs. 49, the customer would get talk time worth Rs.10 and three months local call free to any Reliance CDMA phones. Second option would be with a first recharge of Rs.102, the customer would get talk time worth Rs.20 and six months local calls free (to any reliance CDMA phone). The tariff for local calls to other phones would 30 paise per minute.

550 retail outlets

Customers could also e-recharge across 550 retail outlets.

“Our Grama Veetu Phone-Hello at just Rs.399 is the best gift to the people of Thanjavur. Hello offers the best communication solution to people residing in rural localities as it offers tariffs of a landline connection and the mobility of a cell phone. The phone can either be kept at home for family use, or can be carried to the shop for business purpose or can even be carried to the agricultural fields within the same SDCA (short distance calling area) and therefore helps the customer to stay connected,” Ajay Awasthi told presspersons.

Customer care centres

In a bid to serve the rural customers better, Reliance has set up "Reliance Gramam Service Centres" that were empowered to handle most of the customer care issues. These centres would also sell and exchange SIM cards, upload customer application forms, activate, reactivate, recharge, address battery issues for hello phones and provide suitable value added services. Apart from these centres, hello phone would also be available in more than 550 retail outlets.

At present, this special offer was being made available in 38 villages covering 86,819 households having a total population of 3,96,722. This would be a limited period offer, said Awasthi.
